Songs with Legs is a live album by American composer, bandleader and keyboardist Carla Bley with saxophonist Andy Sheppard and bassist Steve Swallow recorded in Europe and released on the Watt/ECM label in 1994. The Allmusic review by Alex Henderson awarded the album 2 1/2 stars and stated "For those who've said they wish Bley would solo more often, Songs with Legs is an album to hear". The Penguin Guide to Jazz awarded it 3 stars stating "She doesn't put a foot wrong throughout". Carla Bley, nee Borg, (born May 11, 1936) is an American jazz composer, pianist, organist and band leader. An important figure in the Free Jazz movement of the 1960s, she is perhaps best known for her jazz opera Escalator Over The Hill (released as a triple LP set), as well as a book of compositions that have been performed by many other artists, including Gary Burton, Jimmy Giuffre, George Russell, Art Farmer and her ex-husband Paul Bley.
