The band is notable for its membership including Randy Holden, later of The Other Half and Blue Cheer, and Michael Stuart, later of Love. Previously known as the Fender IV when they began in Baltimore in 1962, the band then moved to Southern California. The Sons of Adam were provided their new name by Kim Fowley record producer, and recording artist known for his hit song Alley Oop.
