High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sonu Walia (born 19 February 1964) is a Bollywood actress, winner of Miss India pageant and model. She was a daughter of an Indian Army officer, in a Punjabi-speaking family in New Delhi. She is 5'6" tall. A psychology graduate and a student of journalism, Sonu Walia took up modelling before she entered the Miss India contest. Walia won the Miss India contest in 1985 and went on to compete in Miss Universe 1985. She took over from Juhi Chawla, Miss India 1984, and after completing her responsibilities, she relinquished her crown to Mehr Jesia in 1986. She has a younger sister. She also won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for Khoon Bhari Maang with Rekha and Kabir Bedi in year 1988. She also acted in a TV serial called Betaal Pachisi along with Tom Alter, Shahbaz Khan.
