High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 850 (DSLR-A850) is Sony's second full-frame digital SLR. Similar to the Sony 900, the camera features the same 24.6-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor used in the a900. The camera is almost exactly the same as the 900, but the viewfinder coverage is dropped to 98% with 0.74x magnification and the burst rate is reduced to 3 fps. Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) (pronounced /'si:m s/) is a technology for constructing integrated circuits. CMOS technology is used in microprocessors, microcontrollers, static RAM, and other digital logic circuits. CMOS technology is also used for several analog circuits such as image sensors, data converters, and highly integrated transceivers for many types of communication. Frank Wanlass patented CMOS in 1967 (US patent 3,356,858).
