It is designed to take the gospel message to 'the last, the least and the lost' via a series of outreach programmes. The charity's mission centres on making a positive, tangible difference on the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people in the world. Soul Survivor had been putting on their events since 1993, growing from just under 2,000 people attending the first conference to 22,789 by 2005. The missional aspect of the conferences grew with projects such as Festival: Manchester in 2000 and Soul In The City in 2004. The decision to found Soul Action was a natural response to the success of the works-based projects.
