Sound of Hope is a broadcast service founded by Falun Gong practitioners and supporters in the midst of the suppression of Falun Gong by the Chinese government. It provides news, commentary, entertainment and cultural programming through web, AM/FM in different cities, and shortwave to mainland China. It originated in Mandarin Chinese, and currently also offers programs in Cantonese Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean. The station is critical of the Chinese government on its human rights record and sympathtic of religious freedom of Falun Gong, suppressed beliefs, and other dissidents in China. It also provides programs promoting traditional values from Chinese history.
