High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In 1888 the Natal Government Railways (NGR) placed the first five of its eventual 100 Class A 4-8-2T tank steam locomotives in service. The last of the 100 was delivered to the NGR in 1899, and another two were built from spare parts by the South African Railways (SAR) in 1915. The NGR Class A 4-8-2T tank locomotive was designed by W.
