This is the updated revised edition of the Taekwondo book published in 1975 and this time the Compilation Committee consisting of leading officials from the Korea Taekwondo Association as well as the world Taekwondo Federation helped the Kukkiwon's Technical Council in editing the book with their broad knowledge and experiences of guiding Taekwondo practice. The work of compilation was especially focused on the following points; 1. To lay more emphasis on the field of spiritual education, as well as the establishment of more rationalized historical view of Taekwondo. 2. To improve technical terms through academic researches. 3. To facilitate instructions and practices by giving detailed three-dimensional illustrations of movements in accordance with the exact techniques and skills of basic forms and "poomsae". 4. To make a scientific analysis and systematization of the practical techniques and theory related to a competition and "Kyorugi" (competition or face to face match) so that the contestants may upgrade their competition abilities, and 5. To enclose various regulations including the norms of etiquette which may help enrich a Taekwondo-man's knowledge and administrative ability.
