It is based on the original Australian show Taken Out and began airing on ITV in the UK and TV3 in the Republic of Ireland on 2 January 2010; in September 2010, TV3 started broadcasting an Irish version of the show. The pilot episode was for Channel 4 in 2009. The series is produced by Thames (formerly talkbackTHAMES) for ITV.
