The Real McKenzies is a Scottish-influenced Celtic punk band founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1992. In addition to writing and performing original music, Real McKenzies resurrect traditional Scottish songs, giving them a new punk-influenced sound. The band tours extensively, including an eight-month, 23-country tour in a van.[citation needed] On some of these tours, they have shared stages with Rancid, DragStrip Riot, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Xcrosscheckx, Rough Chukar, The Misfits, Metallica, The Rookers, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Shane MacGowan. Their songs have been used in beer commercials. Their music was recently used in the Scots-Canadian movie Stone of Destiny.
