It gives me great gratification to present the thoroughly revised and enlarged edition of “The social and controversial issues”. The readers and viewers will find all the necessary scenarios of the society along with my own perception with an altogether new look. The present volume appears with an addition of two chapters- Women Empowerment and Terrorism: the menace for society. It is hoped that the book in the present form will prove more useful to the students in general, and to those appearing at various competitive examinations and scholars in particular. The entirely new bibliography will, it is hoped, enable those who wish to pursue their studies further to acquaint themselves not only with the standard authorities, but with more recent research, and thus gain some impression of the changing trends of critical opinion. The method and layout of the original work have been preserved as far as possible, except that considerations of length have necessitated the omission of the chapters at the end of each chapter and at the end of the book as a whole.
