Often we think of Country Music as a song or a ballad that originated 'in the Hills'.From research over the past 30 years For many years as an avid collector of early recorded repertore. In accumulating a good amount of this material, I noticed that many early Country'recordings had a much earlier provenace emenating from Music Halls and 'Tin Pan Alley'. This book explores these origins together with information on the earliest phonograph records and cylinders that were 'reborn' as rural music a decade or two later. Session dates and musicians are identified also their root sources , together with examples of their early lyrics and the singers of both genres.
