High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The tololoche is a traditional musical instrument from northern Mexico. It is actually a slightly smaller version of the European bass, but still large enough for the instrument to produce low sounds. It usually has 4 strings, is played with the fingers and is noted with the fingers. It is not used in classical music, being purely a folk instrument. In northern Mexico it is used to accompany the taca taca, norteno and tango music. These styles are backed by the accordion, snare drum, tololoche, saxophone, guitar or bajosexto. It is also used by musicians playing in bars and taverns in cities in the north. The tololoche became established in the north of Mexico, becoming indispensable to the interpretation of regional music without the need to transport so awkward an instrument as a classical double-bass.
