Tom Ugly (formerly) is an Australian alternative electronic/indie rock act created by its sole producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist Tom Ugly (born Tommaso Parisi; July 16, 1991). The name Tom Ugly was inspired by the southern Sydney headland and bridge. The act's debut Tom Ugly EP reached #3 on the AIR Singles Chart and #23 on the ARIA Physical Singles Chart.Tom Ugly started playing drums at the young age of eight. At the age of twelve, Tom decided to develop his music and move on to the guitar, helping him to start writing his own songs. His virtuoso musical ability was first noticed by the greater public at the age fourteen, when Tom won Australia's most prestigious drum competition, the Billy Hyde Drum Playoffs. In 2006, he formed the group with school mates Mahli-Ann Butt, on bass and Henry Mewing on drums, rehearsing songs that Tom had recorded in the basement of his family home in Oatlands, affectionately referred to as 'the batcave'.
