High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Toncho Pilatos was a Mexican rock band of the 70's. Along with Three Souls in my Mind (later known as El Tri), it was one the most representative predecessors of the "under" scene of Mexican rock. Developed in the so called "hoyos funkies"; its music trascended, more so for the live performances rather than for its publicity. The music that Toncho Pilatos interpreted was original in letter and instrumentation, in spite of the marked stonian (Rolling Stones) influence, mainly. Its sound called so much the attention that the record lable Polydor, one of the most important of that time, recorded their first album, with double cover, within the series Power Rock. Something that had been only accomplished until then by US, English and Canadian groups, but no Mexican: Toncho Pilatos was the first. The album was so successful that was even published in Germany.
