Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement, named Nader as his successor in 2000. The Maharishi called Nader "Raja Nader Raam" or "Adi Ram". After the Maharishi's death, Nader was renamed "Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam". He is also president of Maharishi University of Management and Maharishi Open University at MERU, Holland.Nader comes from a Christian Lebanese background. According to his website, Nader obtained his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, and studied internal medicine and psychiatry. He received a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the field of brain and Cognitive Science, and has worked as a clinical and research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
