After touring with a backup band called 70 Volt Parade in 2005, with a continuously changing lineup, Anastasio solidified his group of musicians. While all but one of the musicians in this group performed as part of 70 Volt Parade in 2005, only Anastasio and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski were in this project's initial lineup. This band should not be confused with Anastasio's first project which toured from 1999-2004. While this band or any of Anastasio's other bands did not have an official name, fans constantly referred to it as Trey Anastasio Band and TAB.
