It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is served by the Trotwood-Madison City School District. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.5 square miles (79.1 km ), of which, 30.5 square miles (79.1 km ) of it is land and 0.03% is water.
