High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! USS Gayety (AM-239) was an Admirable-class minesweeper built for the United States Navy during World War II. After service in the Pacific during World War II, the Gayety remained in commission and served as a training ship. She was decommissioned in March 1954 and placed in reserve. In April 1962, she was transferred to South Vietnam for service in the Republic of Vietnam Navy as RVNS Chi Lang II (HQ-08). She remained in South Vietnamese service until the collapse of that country in 1975. Chi Lang II was one of several ships that fled from South Vietnam to the Philippines. She was then commissioned into the Philippine Navy in November 1975 as RPS Magat Salamat (PS-20), named after a son of Rajah Lakan Dula. The ship is in active service, as of 2009[update]. Along with other World War II-era ships of the Philippine Navy, Magat Salamat is considered as one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world today.
