High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! USS Georgiana III (SP-83) was an armed yacht that served in the United States Navy as a patrol vessel from 1917 to 1918. Georgiana III was an iron-hulled civilian yacht built in 1916 by the Harlan and Hollingsworth Corporation at Wilmington, Delaware. On 3 May 1917, the U.S. Navy acquired her from her owner, Edward T. Stotesbury of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for World War I service as a patrol boat. The Navy took control of her on 11 May 1917 and commissioned her the same day as USS Georgiana III (SP-83) with Lieutenant J. H. R. Cromwell, USNRF, in command.
