USS Progress (AMc-98) was an Accentor-class coastal minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy for the dangerous task of removing mines from minefields laid in the water to prevent ships from passing. Progress was laid down 28 May 1941 by Anderson and Cristofani, San Francisco, California, hunched 6 September 1941; sponsored by Miss Marilyn Lewis, and placed in service at Mare Island Navy Yard 24 January 1942.
