It is part of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Statistical Area.According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.5 square miles (14.2 km ), all of it land.As of the census of 2000, there were 4,500 people, 1,553 households, and 1,248 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 819.4 people per square mile (316.5/km ). There were 1,646 housing units at an average density of 299.7/sq mi (115.8/km ). The racial makeup of the CDP was 68.87% White, 0.76% African American, 1.93% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 23.07% from other races, and 4.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 49.67% of the population.
