VidSoft is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA with a European office in Dresden, Germany. The company was founded in 1999 by Sascha Kummel and Robert Hess under the name VidSoft GmbH. The two technologists first began developing VidSoft's intellectual property and technologies at the University of Dresden ("TU Dresden"). VidSoft Inc., which was originally formed to be the North American sales and marketing arm for VidSoft GmbH, acquired VidSoft GmbH in early 2007.
