They won the Best Romanian Act award at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2005.Founded in 1982, Voltaj proved to have a personality too strong for the communist regime of that time and some people even considered the band a "danger" for the society. The main singer is a bald gentleman called Calin Goia. Under his leadership, the band managed to shed all its rock heritage and began singing a new, commercialized style of music.
