The population was 677 at the 2000 census, at which time the area was incorporated as a town; the community disincorporated on July 1, 2001.According to the United States Census Bureau, the town had a total area of 3.3 square miles (8.7 km ), all of it land.As of the census of 2000, there were 677 people, 241 households, and 200 families residing in the town. The population density was 202.2 people per square mile (78.0/km ). There were 249 housing units at an average density of 74.4/sq mi (28.7/km ). The racial makeup of the town was 96.16% White, 1.33% African American, 0.89% Native American, 0.44% Asian, and 1.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.59% of the population.
