The station is located in Walpole, Massachusetts near the town center, and was formerly known as Walpole Union Station, having originally served the Old Colony Railroad as well as the New York and New England Railroad. Unlike the current Franklin Line, the former Old Colony Railroad line that runs through Walpole spans from Mansfield to the south and Medfield Junction and Framingham to the north. Today, the segment of this line south of Walpole is used for commuters heading to Foxboro Stadium station. The Choo Choo Stop is the store located within the station.
