The Very Rev Walter John Lawrance was an eminent clergyman in the Church of England at the end of the nineteenth century and the very first part of the twentieth.Walter John Lawrance was born in 1840, educated at St Paul's and Trinity College, Cambridge, and ordained in 1864. His first post was as a Curate in St Albans, after which he became its Rector, Archdeacon of St Albans, and finally its inaugural Dean. An honorary Chaplain to the Queen, he died on 12 August 1914.
