High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Very Reverend Walter Robert Matthews, KCVO, CH, DD was an Anglican Dean from 1918 until 1967. Born in 1881 he was educated at Wilson's School and King's College London. He was ordained in 1907 and began his career with curacies at St Mary Abbots, Kensington, and St Peter, Regent Square. After that he was a Lecturer in and then Professor of Theology at his old college. From 1918 he was also Dean of Kings. In 1931 he became an Honorary Chaplain to the King and Dean of Exeter. Then in 1934 he became Dean of St Paul's, a post he held for 33 years. An eminent author, he died on 5 December 1973.
