Originally known as Angel and later Archangel, Worthington is one of the founding members of the X-Men. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-creator Jack Kirby, he first appeared in X-Men (vol. 1) #1 (September 1963) as Angel. He first appeared as Archangel in X-Factor (vol. 1) #24 (January 1988).
