Many of the lyrics are by Michael Moorcock and the album is loosely based on the concept of Moorcock's Eternal Champion.Having recruited a second drummer, Alan Powell, this album's line-up was short-lived. Soon after the album's release, bassist Lemmy was sacked and vocalist Robert Calvert rejoined by the end of the year.
