High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Web Services Security Kerberos Binding is a Web Services specification, authored by IBM and Microsoft, which details how to integrate the Kerberos authentication mechanism with the Web Services Security model. The most recent draft of the specification was released in 2003 and is identified as being for "review and evaluation only." Web services are typically application programming interfaces (API) or Web APIs that are accessed via Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and executed on a remote system hosting the requested services. Web services tend to fall into one of two camps: big Web services and RESTful Web services. "Big Web services" use Extensible Markup Language (XML) messages that follow the SOAP standard and have been popular with traditional enterprise. In such systems, there is often a machine-readable description of the operations offered by the service written in the Web Services Description Language (WSDL).
