High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Wildcat! is a bulletin board system (BBS) software package developed in 1986 by Mustang Software to create a dial-up BBS operating under DOS. It was later ported to Microsoft Windows. By the release of Version 4 it was the basis for over 50,000 bulletin boards worldwide. The product was later expanded to integrate Internet access under the name WINServer (Wildcat! Interactive Net Server). Mustang sold Wildcat! to Santronics Software, Inc. on November 19, 1998. Santronics had been an active third-party developer for the Wildcat! product lines since 1991. A Bulletin Board System, or BBS, is a computer system running software that allows users to connect and log in to the system using a terminal program. Once logged in, a user can perform functions such as uploading and downloading software and data, reading news and bulletins, and exchanging messages with other users, either through electronic mail or in public message boards. Many BBSes also offer on-line games, in which users can compete with each other, and BBSes with multiple phone lines often provide chat rooms, allowing users to interact with each other.
