Due to the ever-increasing demand for multimedia and Internet applications in today’s modern society, an important technology is thought to be Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), for which the IEEE has produced the 802.16 group of standards. The term WiMAX was created by the WiMAX Forum, which actually does the testing and gives the certificates of WiMAX conform equipment. We can say that the relation of the WiMAX term to the IEEE 802.16 standard is the same as the relation of the term WiFi to the IEEE 802.11.WiMAX, is a wireless digital communications system, primarily intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks". WiMAX provides for a variety of transmission modes, such fixed, nomadic and mobile access. It is said that WiMAX usage is very cost effective for the last mile access, which is one of the most challenging parts of transmission in the network. WiMAX is thought to be an efficient solution for providing Internet access in developing countries. The objective of this research is to learn more about WiMAX and contribute in this field.
