It rises near Haddon, about 10 kilometres south-west of Ballarat, and runs through Smythesdale, Scarsdale, and Cressy before emptying into Lake Corangamite. The aboriginal word means `running water` and has been spelt Wandinyallock, Wardiyallock and Worriyallock. There is a Woady Yaloak Primary School in Smythesdale and several places in the surrounding area are named after the Woady Yaloak.
