Produced by Surinder Kapoor, it stars his son Anil Kapoor along with Padmini Kolhapure and Naseeruddin Shah. It is a remake of the 1981 Tamil film Antha Ezhu Naatkal, which was written and directed by the veteran filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj. It was Anil Kapoor`s first lead role. Anil Kapoor`s role, Naseeruddin`s acting and the film`s music were considered strengths of the film. The music was done by Laxmikant Pyarelal while Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics.
