It was most famously recorded by British Rock 'n' Roll icon Billy Fury who cut several versions of the song during his career. His original release of "Wondrous Place" reached #25 on the UK charts in late 1960. The song gained further recognition 40 years later when Fury's version was used on a UK TV advertisement for Toyota. Wondrous Place was also released in the USA by Jimmy Jones but the single failed to chart. The song was covered forty years later by Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and The Rascals' Miles Kane for their project, The Last Shadow Puppets. It was released as B-side for the group's first single, "The Age of the Understatement".
