Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Woodland salamanders are lungless salamanders of the genus Plethodon. They are so named due to their habitat, woodlands, and the fact that they have no aquatic larval stage. Eggs are laid underneath a stone or log and young hatch in the adult form. The Plethodontidae, or Lungless salamanders, are a family of salamanders. Most species are native to the western hemisphere, from British Columbia to Brazil, although a few species are found in Sardinia and Europe south of the Alps. In terms of number of species, they are by far the largest group of salamanders.
