World Magnetic Tour is a current concert tour by American heavy metal band Metallica in support of the group's ninth studio album, Death Magnetic, which was released in September 2008. The tour is the group's first in support of a new studio album since the Summer Sanitarium Tour/Madly in Anger with the World Tour in 2003/2004. The jaunt officially kicked off in October 2008 in Glendale, Arizona, United States, following three European promotional dates in September and two U.S. rehearsal shows. By September 2010, the tour had reached North America, Europe, South America, Asia and Oceania.
