High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Wu Chang-shih (1843–1927) was a Chinese painter, illustrator and author. From a relatively humble background in northwestern Zhejiang, his talents allowed him to pass the first level exams and to study the classics. Settling in Shanghai, he established a wide network of artist friends, and was a founding member of the Yuyuan Shuhua Shanhui (The Yu Garden Charitable Association of Calligraphers and Painters). His work also made its appearance in Japan. Zhejiang borders Jiangsu province and Shanghai municipality to the north, Anhui province to the northwest, Jiangxi province to the west, and Fujian province to the south; to the east is the East China Sea, beyond which lie the Ryukyu Islands of Japan.
