Xavier Castro earned his law degree from the Universidad Catolica Santiago de Guayaquil in 1990 and his Master's degree from Cambridge University in 1997. He was a councillor of the Ecuadorian Supreme Court of Justice until 1999 and Vice President of Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce in two different periods. He received a Chevenign Fellowship award from the British Government. He is also a member of UNO a private non-profit organization which train future political leaders.
