High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Xenodrepanites is an extent ammonoid cephalopod genus belonging to the Ceratitida from the Upper Triassic of the Himalayas. Xenodrepanites has a very compressed, discoidal shell with a ventral furrow bordered by crenulated keels and a sub-ammonitic suture. Some put Xenodrepanites in the Clydonitacan family, Cyrtopleuritidae instead. The Ammonoidea constitute a subclass of extinct cephalopods found in marine sediments from the Early Devonian through the Cretaceous (479—65 mya), existing for approximately 414 million years. Bearing an external shell, ammonoids superficially resemble nautiloids, such as the modern Nautilus.
