High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Xenolimnobia is a genus of crane fly in the family Limoniidae. Tipuloidea is the superfamily of flies containing the living families Cylindrotomidae, Limoniidae, Pediciidae and Tipulidae, and the extinct families Architipulidae and Eolimnobiidae. At least 15,300 species of crane flies have been described, most of them (75%) by the specialist Charles Paul Alexander. True flies are insects of the order Diptera (di = two, and ptera = wing). They possess a pair of wings on the mesothorax and a pair of halteres, derived from the hind wings, on the metathorax.
