High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Xenotosaurus is an extinct genus of mastodonsauroid temnospondyl within the family Mastodonsauridae. The Mastodonsauroidea are an extinct superfamily of temnospondyl amphibians known from the Triassic and Jurassic. Fossils belonging to this superfamily have been found in North America, Greenland, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The genus Ferganobatrachus is included in this superfamily but not placed in any of the included families. Amphibians, such as frogs, toads, salamanders, newts, and caecilians, are ectothermic animals that metamorphose from a juvenile water-breathing form, either to an adult air-breathing form, or to a paedomorph that retains some juvenile characteristics.
