The station began during the 70`s as an adult contemporary Spanish station under the name of Sono Imagen, a name that lasted for two decades. In 1996 the station was named FM Globo and became part of the FM Globo network as a result of a partnership between Radio Universal and MVS Radio. On October 1, 2001 the station changed its format to a Top 40 station and became Exa FM.
