High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Xixiasaurus is a genus of troodontid dinosaur described in 2010. The type species is X. henanensis. Fossils of Xixiasaurus were discovered in central China, in the Majiacun Formation of Henan, and are believed to have been from the Late Cretaceous. The fossils were described by a team of Chinese scientists composed of a group from the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences in Beijing and a second group from the Henan Geological Museum in Henan. Troodontidae is a family of bird-like theropod dinosaurs. During most of the 20th century, troodontid fossils were few and scrappy and they have therefore been allied, at various times, with many dinosaurian lineages. More recent fossil discoveries of complete and articulated specimens, have helped to increase understanding about this group.
