High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! XO-5b is an extrasolar planet approximately 831 light years away in the constellation of Lynx. This planet was found by the transit method by McCullough in May 2008. The planet has mass 1.15 MJ and radius 1.15 RJ, making the density of this planet identical to water (1000 kg/m3). This planet orbits very close to the G-type parent star, as it is typical for transiting planets, classing this as Hot Jupiter. It takes only 4.188 days (or 100.5 hours) to orbit at an orbital distance of 7.6 gigameters (0.0508 AU). As it is typical for hot Jupiters, the planet orbits in a circular path (circularity 0.9971). This planet may have clouds made of lithium, sodium, and potassium in the upper atmosphere, and silicate clouds deeper in the atmosphere.
