High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Training-1 training bottom mine is a training naval mine developed by Fengxi Machinery Factory in China, and was accepted into service in November 1982. Training-1 training bottom mine can be used to train every bottom mine in the Chinese inventory, as well as for minesweeping training. When the training is completed, a high pressure gas valve is released, and the training bottom mine would float to the surface for recovery. A naval mine is a self-contained explosive device placed in water to destroy ships or submarines. Unlike depth charges, mines are deposited and left to wait until they are triggered by the approach of or contact with an enemy ship. Naval mines can be used offensively, to hamper enemy ships or lock them into a harbour; or defensively, to protect friendly ships and create "safe" zones.
