High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Sword-grass is a species of moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found from the Canary Islands and north-western Africa through Europe, the Near East and central Asia up to the Pacific and Japan. The wingspan is 58-68 mm. The length of the forewings is 24-29 mm. The moth flies from September to July depending on the location. The larvae feed on various deciduous trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, including Lilium, Iris, Rumex, Euphorbia, Ononis, Allium cepa, Brassica oleracea and Delphinium. A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth, with thousands of species yet to be described.
