It is located within Gongzhuling country-level city,75 km west of Changchun city- the capital of Jilin province. Yangdachengzi is on the common border of three country-level districts, which are Gongzhuling, Shuangliao and Changling. Yangdachengzi has a total area of 251 square kilometres, with town district of 4 square kilometres. As for 2008, Yangdachengzi has a total population of 53,000, including rural and town, the number of town district residents is 12,000, it is the biggest town in northwest of Gongzhuling country-level city,as well as the commercial cultural and educational center of the area. According to the county annals of Huaide, the town began to form at early time of Qing dynasty, about 300 years ago, and it has the longest commercial history in west area of Jilin province. Yangdachengzi began to build its city wall when Guangxv emperor of Qing dynasty was on his throne. After that, it became the country town of Huaide during the civil war from 1946 to 1949. And it was the taoism center of west Jilin in Chiang Kai-shek-administrative period.
