Yemelyanovo International Airport (Russian: Аэропорт Емельяново) (IATA: KJA, ICAO: UNKL) is a major airport in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia located 37 km northwest of Krasnoyarsk. It opened for operations in 1980. Presently, Yemelyanovo makes regular cargo and passenger flights of over 40 Russian and overseas carriers. Among them are Aeroflot, STC Russia, Transaero, Taymyr Airlines, Vladivostok Avia, UTair, Red Wings, S7, Globus, Uzbekistan Airways, Somon Air (Tajikistan), Нainan Airlines (China), AirBridgeCargo, as well as Lufthansa Cargo, one of the biggest freight airlines of the world. The cargo terminal of LHC in Yemelyanovo airport is its second largest one after Frankfurt. The runway of Yemelyanovo airport (Magnetic Heading 288о) is the only Siberian runway capable of handling LTOs under ICAO category II. The runway condition, the airport facilities and the technology of aircraft handling allows the airport to service more than 50 types of passenger and freight aircraft, including Boeing-767, Boeing-747, А-330, MD-11, Antonov 124-100 and Antonov 225 (Mriya). The airport’s capacity is 12 LTO per hour with the actual turnover exceeding 1 million passengers per year.
